‘Suspicious’ men at NC schools part of Fort Bragg survey, multiple students stay home Thursday
The three suspicious men seen entering two Carteret County schools were later identified as belonging to the 83rd Civil Affairs Group out of Fort Bragg, which issued a statement about the incident apologizing for the angst caused to the community.
“The Soldiers’ visit to the schools was not a planned part of the exercise that the unit was conducting. During the training exercise in your community the Soldiers in question deviated from the planned training to accomplish what are normal training objectives for our type of unit when we deploy overseas. The Soldiers in question will be counseled on the impact that their actions had on the local community and they will receive additional training to prevent future incidents,” said Lt. Col. Samuel K Simpson II in a written letter Thursday.Read More
