A Charlotte family was vacationing in Atlanta yesterday when tragedy struck.
The couple and their five-year-old son were dining at the Sun Dial, a popular rotating restaurant atop the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.
According to USA Today, the boy wandered a few feet away from the table where the family was seated.
Within those few moments, the boy became lodged between the rotating floor and wall -- a space of no more than 5 inches wide.
Immediately, patrons and workers alike rushed to free the boy, but the impact was too severe for his small body.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Police believe the boy may have lost sight of his parents and panicked.
While police have not released the boy's identity at this time, the family lives in Charlotte, so please keep them in your thoughts.
