CCS to Host Play4Kay Games
Fayetteville, NC – High schools in the Cumberland County School system will ‘kick off 2018’ hosting Play4Kay Games in their fight against cancer. The schools will be partnering with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to raise money and awareness about the dreaded disease that took the life of North Carolina State University Hall of Fame Coach Kay Yow.
“This is an excellent way for our schools and student athletes to give back,” said Cumberland County Schools’ Student Activities Director Vernon Aldridge. “Cancer is a disease that has in some way had an effect on all of our lives. Our schools will be doing several activities during the week of their game to raise money and bring awareness to a disease that claims the lives of nearly 7.6 million Americans a year. We hope to make this a great community event.”
Aldridge said that during the games, schools will continue their fundraising efforts as well as acknowledge survivors and loved ones lost because of the dreaded disease.
