K. Michelle has expressed her disappointment over not getting nominated for the Grammy Awards. On Thursday's Big Morning Buzz Live, the Love & Hip-Hop star spoke about being shut out in all categories.
"The line was too long at Western Union. I was doing a little Christmas shopping, so I didn’t make it," she said. "But people are entitled to their opinion. This is my first album. I’m a new artist, not a self-proclaimed new artist, really a new artist. So with that being said, I just feel like there’s a lot of time for it."
The singer says not being recognized has only motivated her to work harder. "I was a little hurt, but I truly feel like with my gift and my ability to write songs that touch people, that there’s always next year. That’s what we’ll aim for. We’ll just work even harder."
After her interview, Michelle performed her new single "Can’t Raise a Man" from her album, Rebellious Soul.

Salaam Remi's latest album, Salaam Remi: One in the Chamber, has been nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards. Prior to the announcement, the in-demand songwriter and producer revealed to ABC News Radio how the disc, which includes contributions from Akon, Ne-Yo, Corinne Bailey Rae, Stephen Marley and Jordin Sparks, came together.
"This project, I guess, came together over a number of years, I love music that actually inspires and hits an emotion with me just by listening to it," he says. "So I had written these songs with the artists, in between us doing other things, and just had a collection of music that I felt like people should hear because this is what I relax to, this is what I listen to. And then, once I put the orchestra behind it, it kind of had a similar thread that actually made it into its own movie, its own body of work."
Remi also explained the importance of making music that he believes in. "I'm really just connected to what I believe is the right way, doing the right thing and then making the music that I believe in. If I don't believe in it, then it's hard for me to back it the way I do," Salaam says.
As a result, the hitmaker is creating music that resonates with his fans. "I just want music that I can be proud of and have people go, 'Wow,' and then come up with creative ways to market it," he says. "I still feel like it's music for humans, not music for politics and charts and worrying about all that stuff. First of all, do people connect with this? And if that feeling is there then it can't go away."
At the Grammys, Salaam will be competing against his artist, Mack Wilds, who earned his first Grammy nod for his debut album, New York: A Love Story, which was released via Salaam's Re Mi Fa/Louder than Life label. The producer told ABC News Radio what he foresees for Mack's music career.
"Mack is doing well with a great start-up," Remi says referring to Wilds' hit single "Own It." "But I definitely feel like he'll be the biggest artist that will come through the R&B lane in a while as a new artist."
With all his success -- writing hits for Alicia Keys, Nas, Miguel and the late Amy Winehouse -- the producer told ABC News Radio how he remains humble.
"The quality of artists and projects and opportunities that I've had, I had to be guided to this. There's no way that this has happened on its own," he says. "But I've also worked really hard at it, even when I get it, so when some people say, 'Oh you're great now, you have it.' I'm like, 'No.' I'm up early, I'm working hard, keeping my head down, humbly appreciative of every opportunity and making the best of it."
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

An animated "Kanye West" dispelled rumors that his fiancee, Kim Kardashian, is a hobbit during a segment on the season 17 finale of South Park, which aired on Wednesday night.
In the show, a cartoon Yeezy dons green fish scale tights and a low-cut green vest -- a reference to a prior South Park goof in which West was accused of being a "gay fish" -- as he sticks up for Kim, despite her purported hobbit-like characteristics.
"Now, there have been malicious rumors started at this elementary school that my beautiful fiancée is a hobbit," Kanye told the kids of South Park Elementary. "That is not funny and it is not true! Yes, Kim is heavier than most of her pictures show her to be. Yes, she gets her hair lasered off her body. Yes, she has as friend named Gandalf, who happens to be a wizard."
The more Kanye speaks, the more he begins to second guess himself. At one point, he calls the reality star from his cell phone and asks, "B***h, how you not the hobbit again?"
He adds, "Oh, OK, I got it ... OK, if my fiancée Kim is a hobbit then ... how come she don't live in a hole in the ground? Boom! All y'all just got lit up! She don't live in no hole in the ground, she lives in a big ass mansion with me, in her room, which is slightly below ground!"
In addition to goofing on Kim, the episode also pokes fun at West's "Bound 2" video and his famous awards-show interruption, only this time West interrupts Pope Francis' "Person of the Year" acceptance speech.
Kanye's likeness previously appeared on the "Fishsticks" episode of South Park's 13th season.

T.I. has decided to delay his ninth studio album, tentatively titled Trouble Man II: He Who Wears the Crown, to "rework" his highly-anticipated project.
"Since we started working on the project and the project has taken a different shape, I think we’re going to postpone that title," Tip said on MTV's RapFix Live."We’re gonna rework that. I got a couple of things in mind."
The rapper revealed the album, which will include contributions from Pharrell, is now headed in a theatrical direction. "All I’ma say is, it’s gonna be a motion picture, it’s gonna be a theatrical-worthy title," T.I. shared. "Something that will definitely seem instant classic. I’m thinking something like Trap Champion, Paperwork, but whatever it is the subtitle will be The Motion Picture."
He adds, "The music that we began to create -- Pharrell, myself -- so many others that have contributed between the time of then and now that the project is just taking a new shape."

Although he's just released his latest album, Black Panties, R. Kelly is already thinking about his next music project, which will be a holiday album due out next year.
"I’m working on a Christmas album right now called the 12 Nights of Christmas and it’s gonna be a lot of lovemaking," Kellz tells Rap-Up.com. "I come with that bearing gifts.”
The crooner reveals the upcoming album is a passion project that he's hoping to complete by the next holiday season. "I started it last Christmas actually, but I don’t believe in just putting out a Christmas album just to sell records," he says. "It has to be the next ['This Christmas']. In order to get that and capture that moment, you have to take a couple of Christmases and then you come with it."
Fans can check out his new holiday song called "Christmas I’ll Be Steppin'," which appears on The Best Man Holiday soundtrack, available in stores now.

During his three-year break from recording, J. Holiday toured, refined his sound and restructured his team. The result, the crooner tells ABC News Radio, is his new album Guilty Conscience, which he says is his best -- and most cohesive -- body of work to date.
"When we came up with the name of the album, we wanted to make sure that we told a story," Holiday says of the concept for the project. "So, y'know, from track one to track 12, it's going to be a story, like, from a movie, pretty much."
And the singer tells ABC News Radio that much of the inspiration for that story came from his personal experiences.
"It's a combination of relationships," he says. "You go through ups and downs in relationships, sometimes the guy isn't too faithful, I should say. So it's a combination: y'know, the good relationships, the bad relationships, me making my mistakes and doing my dirt."
J. Holiday has accumulated several hit songs over the years, including his 2007 breakthrough record, "Bed." However, the singer tells ABC News Radio that he still feels he has to prove himself, even with his successful track record.
"I really do, you know," he says, "Especially having a number one album and then two number one singles on my first album, it's like, even for myself, those are big shoes to fill."
He adds, "I've always just wanted the respect from the industry...my fans, they're going to hold me down, but I definitely feel like I'm still proving myself within the industry, and I hope this album helps with that."
Guilty Conscience, which includes production from Lil Ronnie, Jerry Wonda, Blaq Smurph, and Mike Snoddy, is available in stores now. It's the singer's first offering since his 2009 sophomore disc, Round 2.

Erykah Badu has been named the new face of Givenchy’s spring 2014 campaign.
Riccardo Tisci, creative director at the French fashion house, spoke with Style.com about the new collection and explained why he selected Erykah, who he described as "one of the most stylish women I’ve met in my life."
"Erykah, she’s an icon—come on! What I want to do with my advertising campaign is spread the love," says Tisci. "Already now it’s been three seasons that I’ve been using people that express something—they are great artists, or beautiful women, or stylish women, or models that I really believe in. It’s kind of a family portfolio."
The new campaign falls in line with the brand's initiative to use more women of color, which is a concept he "hopes" other designers will embrace.
"At the end of the day, why are not so many black girls or Latin girls in shows? When you have an American president who is black! When I see this happening, it’s quite sad," says Tisci. "People can be so avant-garde, so advanced, but actually not, because people are still making differences between skin color."

YG's hit single, "My Hitta" peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs chart, achievements he didn't anticipate when he first started working on the track with one of it's featured guests, Jeezy.
The West Coast rapper explained to ABC News Radio how the DJ Mustard-produced song came together with another guest, Rich Homie Quan in Atlanta.
"I was working with Jeezy, he was in the studio and they told me that Rich Homie Quan was the next one out the A, so they wanted me to link with him and get in the studio," he says.
After getting in touch with Quan, YG recalls "vibing out" with the southern rapper. "I played him the joint and I told him the first, like, couple of lines of the hook I had, so he took that, he came with the rest of the hook and then after that we did our verses and it was a wrap," YG says. "Jeezy heard it and was like, 'Oh yeah, that's one.'"
The song appears on YG's debut album My Krazy Life, which is due in February. Despite the success of "My Hitta," the rapper tells ABC News Radio that he feels no pressure to out-do his radio hit on his upcoming effort, because he's focused on album that's strong from start to finish.
"I got a complete album, I'm confident in it, I got follow-up singles, and there's just not like any singers," he explains. "My album is like a day-in-the-life piece. It's like from the top of the morning to the end of the night."
So what can fans expect? "When my album drops, you gonna get everything and the people are going to love it, because ain't nobody doing what I'm doing, they can't do it," YG says.
Featuring the new single, the Drake-assisted "Who Do You Love," My Krazy Life arrives on February 25, 2014.
