Ed Sheeran slept on Jamie Foxx’s couch before he became famous

US Weekly is reporting that Jamie Foxx has helped many young artists, including Ed Sheeran, get their start in the music business.

“Before he made it, he came to my crib. So did Anthony Hamilton, Nick Cannon, all these [people]. You gotta press anybody that’s got that artistic feel, that touch, you’ve got to lift them up.”

Jamie revealed that Ed slept on his couch for six weeks before he was famous. At the time, Jamie was doing a satellite show out in L.A. and Ed had reached out to him to listen to his music. Jamie ended up being so impressed with the singer’s talent that he offered him a place to stay.

Jamie also recalled when he took Ed to perform live in front of 800 black people in downtown L.A. and Ed got a standing ovation in 12 minutes.

“And the rest was history,” said Jamie.
