Last week the NAACP issued a travel advisory to all African Americans that plan to travel using American Airlines. In a released statement the NAACP said
“The NAACP for several months now has been monitoring a pattern of disturbing incidents reported by African-American passengers, specific to American Airlines,” said the NAACP in their warning. “In light of these confrontations, we have today taken the action of issuing national advisory alerting travelers—especially African Americans—to exercise caution, in that booking and boarding flights on American Airlines could subject them disrespectful, discriminatory or unsafe conditions.”
The group listed several recent incidents with the airline in their travel warning, involving the mistreatment of black fliers. The listed offenses mostly involve people being removed from flights. American Airlines has called the advisory disappointing and proud to serve customers of all background more to come on this ongoing story.
