It's no secret that no one really knows the appropriate time to put up or take down their Christmas tree or Christmas decorations, but according to Mariah Carey, we've all been doing it wrong!

Recently, Ryan Seacrest took to Twitter to ask when "his friend" should take their Christmas decorations down.

While the Twitterverse seemed to agree that "now" was the appropriate time to remove said decorations,
naturally, the queen of Christmas herself shared some insight.

And wow, her response totally blew our minds!

Yes, you read that right. July 4 is the "appropriate" time to take down your Christmas decorations.

While Mariah did include a winky face in her tweet, we're not entirely sure if Mariah is joking.

After all, she does wholeheartedly love the holiday season. Perhaps, her love for Christmas really does last until the fourth of July ...
