Adidas Employees Found Guilty In FBI Case
Adidas employees might be spending years in prison for this.
You may remember, about a year ago charges were brought against Jim Gatto, Adidas’ global marketing director of basketball, and a brand consultant, Merl Code, for corruption within NCAA Basketball. Basically, they were secretly paying high school players and making future promises, to entice them to go to the given Adidas sponsored university to play basketball.
Yesterday, in New York federal court, a three-day jury deliberation came to an end and found Gatto, Code, and a sports agent, Christian Dawkins, guilty in the corruption case.
According to ESPN, they were all found guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Their sentencing is not until March 5th, 2019, and could be facing up to four years in prison.
Unfortunately, Adidas will be able to bounce back from this, but the guys found guilty of this will not.
