Rapper 21 Savage has been released from federal immigration custody, according to the Associated Press.
A statement from the "A Lot" rapper's legal team says that he was released on bond Tuesday (Feb. 12).
His lawyers, Charles Kuck, Dina LaPolt, and Alex Spiro said that they've been in communication with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since his arrest to "clarify his actual legal standing, his eligibility for bond, and provide evidence of his extraordinary contributions to his community and society."
The rapper whose given name is She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was taken into the immigration custody on Feb.3 in Atlanta, Georgia.
ICE stated that 21 Savage, who is a British citizen, overstayed his visa and has a felony conviction.
The rapper's legal team said that Abraham-Joseph was brought to the United States when he was seven years old, and his legal status expired in 2006 through no fault of his own.
Since 21 Savage's arrest, a myriad of artists from the hip-hop community and beyond have shown their support for the rapper.
