The artist, who had been frustrated with the record label for quite some time, used a black heart and the praying hands’ emoji as her caption when she shared the news.
Her longtime manager, Mike Nazzaro, wants to make it clear that Tinashe wasn’t dropped from her label.
“She wasn’t dropped,” Nazzaro said during an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone. “We initiated for her to be released. It was a positive split for her. It’s giving her back creative control.”
Nazzaro said that the exit took a little while to figure out, but it had been final for about a month or so.
According to Rolling Stone, RCA didn’t respond to the publications repeated request for commentary.
Tinashe is happy about the next step in her music career, according to her manager.
“She’s excited for this next step in her career,” Nazzaro said. “We’re trying to decide now, if we want new partners, who the next ones will be.”
During a 2016 interview with the publication, Tinashe mentioned that she had “creative differences” with RCA.
The singer recently turned 26-year-old on Feb. 6.
