Meek Mill Challenges The Criminal Justice System In New Upcoming Amazon Documentary ‘Free Meek’

The Philadelphia native said that the film "explores my life and the flaws in the criminal justice system that have haunted me and others like me." The documentary also explores the rapper's journey to stardom and specifically his 2007 case, which is the reason why he's been on probation for so long.
"I never really looked at it like a nightmare," Meek (who was born Robert Rihmeek Williams) says in the trailer. "I looked at it as real life for a black kid in America. It's just real life."
The rapper was sent to prison in Pennsylvania in 2017 for violating his parole for an arrest that took place 10 years ago.
Last spring, the Championships rapper was released from prison after Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner's Office questioned the validity of the arresting officer in Mill's 2007 arrest.
The documentary premieres on Amazon this summer.
Last week, Philadelia named an honorary Meek Mill weekend. He was honored by Philadelphia's City Council for his advocacy around criminal justice reform.
