The Atlanta native was honored by the Georgia Senate for his positive impact on the community, reports WSBTV.

The “U Don’t Know Me” rapper was recognized for his philanthropic work last Friday (Mar. 22). The resolution was sponsored by State Sen. Donzella James, D-Atlanta, and applauded T.I. for his nonprofit organizations Harris Community Works, which works with the disadvantaged, and For The Love Of Our Fathers, which works with people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The rapper has also spoken at local schools, hosted Thanksgiving turkey giveaways, delivered Christmas presents to families in need throughout Greater Atlanta, and has donated his time and money to various efforts ranging from hurricane relief to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Summer 2016, the rapper peacefully marched to protest police brutality of African-Americans, and in April 2018 T.I. joined others in calling for a boycott of Starbucks following the controversial “racist” arrests of two black men.

Yesterday (Mar. 24), T.I. took to Instagram to address people who come on his Instagram page and leave “ill” comments about his wife, singer-songwriter Tiny Harris.

“Ok, maybe this is a teachable moment… What do y’all really hope to achieve by coming on my page speaking ill of my wife under a picture of my family???? WTF make y’all think I’m just gon let y’all Try ME & MINES???? I’m showing restraint because y’all are young black women and IM TRYING MY BEST to respect you and uplift you like you ALL DESERVE. But YALL GOT ME FU**ED UP SHAWTY… Be out here shaped like a whole 2liter Peach Faygo and got the nerve to make critical, disrespectful comments about MINES?!?! I obviously love it and have loved it for over 18yrs now… IF YOU HAD A MAN WHO LOVED YOU AS MUCH AS I LOVE HER I doubt you’d be miserable enough to leave such hateful comments. Let’s not have this discussion again… Now Get a Life witcha goofy asses,” T.I. wrote.
