Over the weekend, Lil Kim told fans at her concert in Atlantic City when the album would drop and that it would feature Miami rapper Rick Ross.
Lil Kim has most likely named the album 9, due to the number’s significance in the rapper’s life. June 9 is her daughter, Royal Reign’s birthday and March 9 is the day that her close friend, The Notorious B.I.G. was murdered. After five albums and four mixtapes, the project would also be Kim’s 9th release, as Vibe notes.
9 will be Kim’s first studio album since her 2005 album The Naked Truth, which features the Brooklyn rapper’s singles “Whoa” and “Lighters Up.”
Fellow rap veteran, Missy Elliott congratulated Lil Kim, who she’s collaborated with on a few occasions on Twitter and stated that she can’t for the new release.
Congratulations to YOU sis. I love u so much! Can’t wait to hug u! ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/roVa5mw7J2
