Mathew Knowles Announces Plans For Destiny’s Child Musical
Destiny’s Child fans may be in for a treat.
An hour ago, Mathew Knowles took to Instagram to announce that he and Je’Caryous Johnson are currently collaborating on a Destiny’s Child musical.
“Breaking @jecaryous Johnson and I are collaborating on Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical with plans for Broadway, London’s West End, and a world tour! More details coming soon…” he wrote.
Johnson also announced the news on his Instagram page. He directed those who want to audition for the musical to sign up at their website. So far, no one from the group has commented.
Destiny’s Child was formed in 1997 and initially started out as a quartet with Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Latavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett.
Following the success of their 1999 album, The Writing’s On the Wall, which featured DC’s number-one singles “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name,” the group endured internal conflict causing Roberson and Luckett to split from the group’s manager, Mathew.
In early 2000, both Roberson and Luckett were replaced with Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. However, after five months, Franklin left the group, leaving Destiny’s Child to be a trio.
The Grammy Award-winning group has sold more than sixty million records worldwide to date. Last year, DC3 was united on stage with Beyonce during her iconic Coachella performance.
