Osundairo Brothers Sue Jussie Smollett’s Attorneys
Abel and Ola Osundairo, the brothers who were accused of attacking Empire star Jussie Smollett have filed a defamation lawsuit against Smollett’s attorneys, Tina Glandian and Mark Geragos.
The lawsuit that was filed yesterday (Apr. 23) in U.S. District Court in Chicago alleges that Geragos and his firm made false public statements about the Osundairo brothers during a media frenzy that has damaged them both emotionally and financially, reports ABC News.
The lawsuit states that the Empire star’s lawyers continued to profess Smollett’s innocence although prosecutors stated that Smollett agreed to forfeit his $10,000 bond and do community service in exchange for them dropping 16 felony disorderly conduct counts against the actor.
The suit contains a myriad of statements made by Geragos and Glandian in press interviews that the Osundairo brothers deem as “false.” The interviews include ones that were done with ABC News and NBC.
Glandian and Geragos spoke with TMZ regarding the suit.
“At first we thought this comical legal document was a parody. Instead, this so-called lawsuit by the brothers is more of their lawyer driven nonsense, and a desperate attempt for them to stay relevant and further profit from an attack they admit they perpetrated,” they said.
“While we know this ridiculous lawsuit will soon be dismissed because it lacks any legal footing, we look forward to exposing the fraud the Osundairo brothers and their attorneys have committed on the public.”
