Regina King Lands New Deal With Netflix
Oscar and Emmy winner Regina King just signed a new deal with Netflix.
King has signed a multiyear, first-look deal with the streaming giant to develop film and television projects via King’s production company, Royal Ties, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Regina King is a multi-faceted talent both behind and in front of the camera,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “She’s been a trailblazer for years, with boundless creativity and impeccable taste in projects, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she will bring her formidable talents to Netflix.”
“I am beyond thrilled to join the Netflix family,” said King. “They are at the top of their game and as an artist I am so excited to come play in this wonderful sandbox they have created for storytellers.”
King’s sister, Reina King, will serve as head of the production for Royal Ties.
In 2018, the veteran actress, producer, and director won her third Emmy award for her role on Netflix’s Seven Seconds. King also won an Oscar for If Beale Street Could Talk.
