Nia Long, Ice Cube, Morris Chestnut And More Attend John Singleton’s Private Funeral
On Monday (May 6), close friends and family paid their respects to legendary film director John Singleton in Los Angeles during a private funeral.
Nia Long, Ice Cube, and Morris Chestnut, who all appeared in Singleton’s Oscar-nominated debut film Boyz n the Hood, attended the “celebration of life,” according to The Root.
Other notable attendants of Singleton’s private funeral were Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyrese, Ving Rhames, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Ryan Coogler, Ludacris, and Ruth E. Carter.
Yesterday, Tyrese shared a video of himself on Instagram stopping by the house that Singleton’s Baby Boy was shot at before attending the funeral.
Singleton passed on April 29. He was taken off of life support after suffering a major stroke on April 17.
Singleton is survived by his mother and his seven children.
Singleton, who passed at 51-years-old, made history by becoming the youngest and first black director to be nominated for Best Director for Boyz.
Boyz n the Hood also launched the acting careers of several of the film’s actors.
A larger and public memorial service will take place for Singleton in the next few weeks, according to People.
