Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Clothing Store Shuts Its Doors
The late Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Clothing store has shut its doors to focus on the overwhelming amount of online orders its received since the Los Angeles rapper’s untimely death.
A few days ago, Nipsey Hussle’s longtime girlfriend, actress Lauren London, took to Instagram to share a note regarding The Marathon Clothing’s closing.
“Thank you to everyone who’s placed an order with us these last couple of weeks. We appreciate the unprecedented outpour of support. It means a lot to our team and family. We are working around the clock to fulfill every order placed,” the note said.
“We ask for your patience as we get everything fulfilled and shipped out to you. Additionally, our flagship store is closed right now, but our online store is open 24/7 to serve you and is the only authorized retailer of our brand. Once again, thank you for your support.”
The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday (May 8) that prior to Nipsey Hussle’s death the “Victory Lap” rapper was working hard to beat gentrification in South LA and other cities across the United States.
Hussle was attempting to bring economic development to the blighted neighborhood surrounding Slauson and Crenshaw Boulevard.
The rapper was a part of an investment group that planned to use a tax incentive to help revive not only his South LA community but also marginalized communities in 11 cities, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
“Together with his business partner, real estate developer David Gross, Hussle had been scheduled to meet with Sen. Tim Scott, a Republican from South Carolina, to discuss rolling out an investment fund they had created called ‘Our Opportunity,'” the LA Times reports. “‘Its mission is to work with the hometown heroes “of every large, majority black city to, in a systematic way, acquire and develop transformative projects,’ said Gross, who grew up in South L.A.”
