The Cosmopolitan told TMZ that Meek Mill attempted to enter a full-capacity room of the hotel, the Marquee Dayclub, and that security were simply adhering to the hotel's capacity policy (in Meek’s video footage, the hotel's security rep didn't mention capacity issues.) Meek Mill took to Twitter on Monday to address the Cosmopolitan's response. He shared that the hotel claimed that a pool party was over capacity, but he was told that he would be arrested just for entering the hotel to grab a bite to eat.
The rapper also stated that he doesn't care about the Cosmopolitan, but he refuses to be treated like "sh*t" and "act like it's normal."
Not only did Meek Mill take to social media to address the hotel's response, but now the rapper will be filing a lawsuit against the Las Vegas hotel for defamation and discrimination, according to The Fader.
The "Championships" rapper's attorney, Joe Tocopina, responded to the hotel's statement by saying that it isn't true that the Cosmopolitan denied the rapper entry due to capacity concerns.
“The assertion that the Cosmopolitan denied Meek because of capacity concerns at Marquee Dayclub is outright false. In the recorded video, Meek also inquired about getting a meal at one of the hotel’s restaurants, yet their security team continued to deny Meek … The Cosmopolitan’s conduct continues to be deplorable," Tocopina said.
On Saturday, the Philadelphia rapper took to Instagram to share a video (above) of his experience.
"Cosmopolitan hotel/casino going to extreme racist levels to keep too many black entertainers and black people .... they said they gone lock me up," Meek Mill wrote on Instagram.
"Some of these casinos have a bunch of Tatics to keep the level of blacks down .... but love to take our money!This happens to a lot of black entertainers not just me either! I felt crazy being put out by these white men for no reason!"
