DJ Khaled Throws Fit After ‘Father of Asahd’ Debuts At No. 2
DJ Khaled is big mad that his new album, Father of Asahd is no. 2 instead of no. 1.
According to Page Six, the producer stormed into Epic Records with an entourage, throwing a fit, once he saw projections.
“He was angry and yelling. He threw a temper tantrum,” a source said. Khaled blamed his album not being no. 1 on his label’s executives not understanding streaming services and bundle deals.
Another source said, “No. 2 won’t do for Khaled. He was not happy when the album didn’t debut at No. 1 . . . Not happy at all.”
An industry insider said that the DJ was frustrated because an estimated 100,000 downloads of his album that were sold through a bundle deal with an energy drink weren’t included in his sales by Billboard.
“Khaled was upset that his label wasn’t fighting for him and fighting for those numbers to count, which could have propelled him to No. 1. They don’t get it,” another source said.
Father of Asahd came in behind Los Angeles rapper and producer Tyler, the Creator’s fifth studio album, Igor.
