Extreme heat wave expected to blanket 230 million across U.S. [VIDEOS]

Prepare  yourselves for some extreme and dangerous heat this weekend.  Today is reporting that more than two thirds of the country will be slammed by a major heat wave through the weekend.

A large high-pressure 'heat dome' will cover the central and eastern U.S., with the heat index ranging from 105 to as high as 115 in areas ranging from New York to Detroit to St. Louis.  More than 55 million people are already under heat advisories or excessive heat warnings.

Experts have also warned that the heat can be dangerous or even fatal, especially for the elderly or people with chronic physical ailments.
