FAST Mini-bus Explodes Outside Foxy 99 Studios
A City of Fayetteville FAST mini-bus caught fire and exploded Monday morning, outside the Beasley Media building at the intersection of B and Person Streets in Fayetteville. The driver and five passengers on board were all evacuated immediately and are safe, with no injuries reported.
At approximately 10 a.m., a loud explosion was heard from the Foxy 99 studios. Several staff members for Beasley rushed out to see the bus already fully engrossed in flames at the intersection, with all passengers and the driver coming off the bus. Staff members helped to get the passengers away from the bus and into the building safely.
Flames quickly took over the rest of the bus and a series of small explosions grew the flames much higher. A Fayetteville police officer was on-scene immediately and fire emergency responders were there in two minutes.
The passengers included a pregnant female, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution, and two elderly women. One of those women had left her walker on the bus, but was aided in walking by the driver and Beasley staff members.
Firefighters had the flames extinguished by 10:30.
