Big Sean Makes $100K Recording Studio Donation To Detroit Boys And Girls Club
Detroit rapper Big Sean recently gave back to his community in a major way.
Over the weekend, Sean hosted his second annual DON Weekend in his hometown via his Sean Anderson Foundation, and the “Overtime” rapper also donated a $100,000 production studio that was installed on the city’s west side at the Dick & Sandy Dauch Boys & Girls Club, per the Detroit Free Press.
Today was one of the most bossed up things we ever did! Threw a block party w/ free rides, food n everything BUT also had rooms where we introduced people n kids to yoga, self healing, computer coding/engineering, Music programs n lighting and more right in our hood! #DONweekend pic.twitter.com/LQDaxYXVZf

The recording studio came equipped with headphones, a mini-performance stage, audio workstations, DJ controllers, and various other equipment.
The recording studio that Sean donated to the Boys & Girls Club was the second recording studio that the Detroit native donated. In 2015, Big Sean donated a recording studio to his alma mater Cass Tech High School.
“It’s a full-circle moment when your neighborhood supports you and holds you high, and you’re in a position to be able to hold it up your own way and take it further,” Sean said.
According to President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan region, Shawn Wilson, the studio will also have three video-editing stations and an audio-mixing console. The recording studio will also be a space where intimate performances, classes, and film nights will take place.
“Detroit is like one those staples in music,” Big Sean said. “It’s important that we keep that legacy of being one of the music’s backbones. We’ve got a reputation to uphold.”
