Teen Goes Blind Because Of Pringles, White Bread and French Fries
How’s your diet? Do you eat healthy or are you a junk food and fast food eater? Well, one teenager is paying the price for his bad diet.
IFL Science shared a case from a medical journal where a young man went blind because his diet consisted of Pringles, white bread and french fries. He did have sausage and processed ham mixed into his diet.
“His diet was essentially a portion of chips from the local fish and chip shop every day,” Dr Denize Atan, who treated him at Bristol Eye Hospital, told BBC News. “He also used to snack on crisps – Pringles – and sometimes slices of white bread and occasional slices of ham, and not really any fruit and vegetables.”
However, at the age of 14, he was taken to the doctor for fatigue. He had low B12 levels and anemia. His vision and hearing worsened a year later and by the time he was 17-years-old, he was blind. His vision impairment was permanent.
Some researchers doubted the study and pointed out that there may have been other factors like genetics and environmental issues.
