Cumberland County Update: 70 in Shelters, Pet Accomodations at Both
As of 3 p.m. today, there are 70 people signed into the following Cumberland County emergency shelters:
- Smith Recreation Center: 47 occupants; shelter capacity is 100
- South View High School, 23 occupants; shelter capacity is 310
Anyone who needs assistance with transportation to one of the shelters should call the Hurricane Information Line at 910-678-7657. Transportation will be coordinated with the Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) until 5 p.m.
Pet Accommodations
Both shelters have pet accommodations. As of 3 p.m., are 5 pets in the shelters. Pet owners should bring pet food, medication, crates, collars, leashes and rabies vaccination records. Animal Control staff will be on-site, but owners will be expected to provide daily care for their animals during their stay at the shelter.
Residents should only call 911 if they need immediate help from law enforcement, paramedics or the fire department.

Landfill Hours for Friday
The Cumberland County landfill and container sites will be open Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The landfills and sites will have extended hours on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
