Brandy Calls Her New Forthcoming Album ‘Very Special’ And ‘Authentic’
There’s exciting news for Brandy fans. The veteran R&B singer recently announced that she has a new forthcoming album on the way.
During BET’s 2019 Black Girls Rock ceremony, which aired over the weekend, Brandy stopped to chat with That Grape Juice about her new album, special collaborations that she has, and continuing Whitney Houston’s legacy.
“This project is very special to me and it’s authentic. And I’m trying different things that I haven’t tried before. That’s why it’s taken me a while,” Brandy said
“I have a date and it’s here in 2019. I am so excited…and it’s just…I’m not playing about it,” Brandy continued.
During the interview, Brandy revealed that her new upcoming album will feature her brother, Ray J. “I have a song with my brother,” Brandy said before praising Ray J’s vocals. “He’s so ready and he’s taking it seriously,” Brandy said.
When Brandy was asked who are some of the women who define “black girl magic” for her, the singer mentioned the late Whitney Houston and her mother.
“Whitney Houston was the first person I saw outside of my mom…Whitney Houston was so impossible…She made the impossible possible. And I felt like she said this is how far you can go. She didn’t seem like she was not approachable,” Brandy explained.
“Nobody could have told me that I would have met her the way that I met her. And to work with her the way that I did. And I am definitely here to carry on the legacy. Whitney would still sing when her voice was not there. That’s a different kind of vessel. No matter what she’d been through, she tried her best to do the best that she could.”
