Phi Beta Sigma Removes Malik Yoba From Its Youth Program
Following actor Malik Yoba’s “coming out” as someone who is attracted to transwomen, a transwoman named Mariah Lopez Ebony claimed that Yoba had paid her for sex in New York City when she only 13-years-old.
Ebony claimed that the actor known for his role in the hit ’90s television show New York Undercover had only come out because there was the possibility of him getting in trouble for his past aggression of having sex with teenagers.
Now, Madame Noire reports that Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, which Yoba is an honorary member of, has removed the actor from its youth program that Yoba was the spokesperson for.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity issued a statement that was obtained by News One. It reads:
“Those reports allege that Yoba had been previously involved in an inappropriate relationship 20 years ago, allegations that Brother Yoba denies. This is a serious issue and the allegation is inconsistent with, and a distraction to, the focus of the Sigma Beta Club. To safeguard the reputation of the program and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., the National Sigma Beta Club Foundation, in consultation with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s leadership, has determined it to be in the best interest of all concerned that Brother Malik Yoba no longer serve as the National Spokesperson for the Sigma Beta Club program.”
Malik Yoba has yet to comment on his dismissal from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
