Fayetteville No Longer Under Curfew or State of Emergency
Mayor Mitch Colvin has rescinded the state of emergency and curfew imposed on the City of Fayetteville, effective Sunday.
The curfew had been put in place 1 week ago, after looting and vandalism broke out around the city. This followed several peaceful protests in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, while in police custody. Several peaceful events have been held in the area since that night, including a viewing and memorial service for Floyd in Raeford on June 6.
As of Sunday, June 7, 2020, Mayor Mitch Colvin has rescinded the SOE adopted on May 31st and amended on June 1st which imposed a curfew for the City of Fayetteville NC. Therefore, the 8 PM to 6 AM curfew is lifted as of today. pic.twitter.com/kbVhRrMJHk
