Big Sean Drops New Single ‘Deep Reverence’ Featuring Nipsey Hussle
On Tuesday (Aug. 25), Big Sean dropped his new single “Deep Reverence” featuring the late Nipsey Hussle. The Detroit native announced the song’s release while responding to a fan on Twitter. On Monday (Aug. 24), a fan tweeted Sean, saying, “Can’t wait to hear that Nipsey track.” “How bout I drop it tonight?!!! The world needs to hear n feel Nipsey presence!” Big Sean replied to the fan.

Hussle opens up the track, “I was birthed in a C-section/Hella cops and police presence, we got opps so we keep weapons.” In Big Sean’s verse, the rapper talked about Nipsey Hussle’s untimely death, stating that he spoke with Kendrick Lamar about their rumored beef.
“It wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with,” Big Sean raps. “Lack of communication and wrong information/From people fueled by their ego, it’s like mixin’ flames with diesel.”
On the track, Sean then references his struggle with mental health and faith. He also shares he previously lost “a baby.” At the end of “Deep Reverence,” a clip from an interview with Nipsey Hussle was featured.
During it, the slain rapper said that he wanted to collaborate with Sean as well as other Detroit hip-hop artists. “Deep Reverence” will be featured on Big Sean’s forthcoming album Detroit 2, which drops on Sept. 4.
In 2017, Big Sean released the collaborative album Double or Nothing with Metro Boomin, and the solo album I Decided as well.
