VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA - APRIL 27: SZA performs onstage at SOMETHING IN THE WATER - Day 2 on April 27, 2019 in Virginia Beach City.

As promised, on Friday (Sept. 4), SZA returned with her new single and video “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Produced by the Neptunes, “Hit Different” is a song about a lover who has other attachments.

“I was into you from the beginning even if you wasn’t mine/Scared to admit my shortcomings led to overdraft in this affair, declining/Quicker than we started, evidence we misaligned/Man, I get more in love (More in love) with you each argument,” she sings on the track.

“Just wanted to share something ..thank you to every single person that brought my heart to life during Covid (sorry my hands are shaking ),” SZA said of the track on Instagram. “I love you all so dearly oki bye @SZA ft @tydollasign + @jacobcollier PRODUCED BY THE F—-ING NEPTUNES.”

In the video, SZA begins a dance ensemble with dancers in a junkyard while wearing an orange crop top and matching windbreaker pants. The singer then stands in a barn filled with llamas wearing nothing but a bikini with blood dripping all over her body.

SZA continues to sing her verses while sitting on a stack of hay. She also does another dance ensemble in a parking lot, and Ty Dolla $ign eventually joins her and spits his verse.

At the end of the video, SZA shows off her body in a brown bikini while sitting on a mechanical bull and singing the rest of her song. The video marks the “Love Galore” singer’s directorial debut.

“Hit Different” is the follow up to SZA’s “The Other Side” with Justin Timberlake, which was the theme song for Trolls World Tour.
