MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - JULY 25: DaBaby performs on stage during Rolling Loud at Hard Rock Stadium on July 25, 2021 in Miami Gardens, Florida.

DaBaby is on an “apology tour” of sorts; he met with some HIV organizations to apologize for the homophobic remarks he made in July during his performance in Miami at the Rolling Loud Festival.

According to a press release per CNN, the “Suge” rapper met with Black leaders from nine HIV organizations on Tuesday according to a joint press release from the groups.

“During our meeting, DaBaby was genuinely engaged, apologized for the inaccurate and hurtful comments he made about people living with HIV, and received our personal stories and the truth about HIV and its impact on Black and LGBTQ communities with deep respect,” the organizations stated per CNN. “We appreciate that he openly and eagerly participated in this forum of Black people living with HIV, which provided him an opportunity to learn and to receive accurate information.”

Some of the organizations the rapper spoke with included the Black AIDS Institute, GLAAD, National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), and The Normal Anomaly Initiative.
Marnina Miller of the Southern AIDS Coalition, who participated in the meeting, said in a statement per Variety: “DaBaby’s willingness to listen, learn, and grow can open the door to an entirely new generation of people to do the same.”
The meeting follows several apologies made by the rapper running over the course of a month. In a now-deleted post, DaBaby apologized for his homophobic rant and spoke on how education on the topic is a priority for him.
“I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,”he wrote on his Instagram page last month. “Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.”
