Senate Candidate in Louisiana Tweets Campaign Ad Smoking Weed
In a now viral tweet posted early Tuesday morning, Louisiana senate candidate Gary Chambers Jr. can be seen smoking weed (marijuana of course) in his first campaign ad. On Instagram and Twitter Chambers wrote:
“I hope this ad works to not only destigmatize the use of marijuana, but also forces a new conversation that creates the pathway to legalize this beneficial drug, and forgive those who were arrested due to outdated ideology,” Chambers said in his post.
He told CNN it is:
“long past due that politicians stop pretending to be better or different than the people they represent.”
Chambers explained why he was running for Senate on his website:
“As a native son of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gary Chambers Jr. leads, advocates and lives by the motto “Do Good, Seek Justice”, an excerpt from the gospel of Isaiah 1:17 which requires those in position to effect change to work diligently on behalf of the most vulnerable. It is this spirit of service that inspired his decision to run for the U.S. Senate.”
The video got so popular that The Colbert Show even mentioned it:
In case you missed it, last night our ‘37 Seconds’ was featured on @colbertlateshow last night.
I’ll be on @cnn @NewDay here at 8:30am ET. Tune in!
Oh, and yes, Louisiana has a senator who thinks we taste like chicken. Can’t make this up.
Would this Senate candidate smoking weed get your vote in North Carolina?
