Hey Fayetteville area parents, it's not too late to get your kids signed up for spring youth sports with Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation. But the deadline is close!

Registration is open for indoor soccer, baseball, softball, rugby, lacrosse and track, with the deadline of Tuesday, March 1 looming.

“Athletics can provide so many mental, physical and social rewards,” FCPR Director Michael Gibson said. “Recreational athletes can go on to excel at collegiate or professional levels, but they also live and work here. FCPR athletes and coaches demonstrate sportsmanship and fitness is a priority. The outcomes are priceless and can translate to a connected and active community achieving sport and societal goals.”

Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Rec said the Buddy Sports Baseball program is also registering individuals up to age 21. Adult softball registration is also open for ages 18 and older through March 1.

Late registrations after March 1, will only be accepted for participation on a space-available basis.

Anyone interested in serving as a volunteer coach or paid scorekeeper for Fayetteville youth sports can call their local recreation center and ask how to get involved. Locations and contacts are listed here.

FCPR also updated on the latest progress on upgrades and new facilities in the area.

“Over the next few years, we will see changes that should attract more tournaments, visitors and participants It’s really an exciting time be in Fayetteville-Cumberland County,” Gibson said.

If you're looking for good food across Southeastern North Carolina, you've got plenty of restaurant options, and thanks to the Food Network, a lot of people know about them.

The folks over at tvfoodmaps.com have done the work of legends, putting together a complete directory of all the restaurants that have appeared on some of the network's most popular shows.

So we took a dive to look at some of the best Southeastern North Carolina restaurant choices.
