In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Houston "Hottie" is working on the follow-up to her 2020 album Good News. She told the outlet that this LP will be taking fans on an emotional rollercoaster.
“I want to take you through so many different emotions,” she said of the upcoming album. “At first you was twerking, now you might be crying.”
She previewed one song of the upcoming album titled “Gift And Curse,” produced by Murda Beatz. She raps, “A bitch like me, yeah, I know my worth / F---ing with me is a gift and a curse.” Megan then expanded on the song's meaning stating, “I can take care of myself. I’m so emotionally strong. I’m so independent. You know how easy it is for me to dismiss you, because I don’t need you.”
Megan also previewed a song called “Pressurelicious.” “Pressurelicious” features Future; Megan praised his ability to seemingly dismiss negative comments about himself online.
“I appreciate that about anybody who gets up and has to do anything in the public eye,” she said of Future. “Anybody who has to read about their life online every day and deal with so many energies and can put it out into their music and do it gracefully, I feel like you deserve your flowers.” This will be the first collaboration between the two rappers.
Elsewhere in the interview, Megan opened up about the influence of her late mother. “When I make music, I always scratch the first draft because I feel my momma would’ve scratched it for me. So I’m like, ‘OK, go harder than that,’” she said.
At the time of the interview, Megan had “25 to 30” songs to choose from before she makes the final tracklist for the LP. The rapper is looking to have the album released sometime this summer.
Megan Thee Stallion is trailblazing through the rap game. With 3 Grammys, 16 top 10 hits on the Billboard chart, and of course, a feature with her idol Beyoncé? The self-proclaimed "Houston Hottie" is a force to be reckoned with.
Check out her best 10 songs:
10. "Cry Baby" ft. DaBaby

DaBaby and Megan team up again for Megan's "Cry Baby" off of her 2020 album 'Good News.' The two have collaborated previously on Megan's "Cash Sh-t" and DaBaby's "Nasty." This song is about the two rappers flexing about their very busy sex lives. After Megan released a teaser of the video, it sparked the "Cry Baby Challenge" on TikTok which had fans imitate her twerk routine.
9. "Girls in the Hood"

"Girls in the Hood" samples Eazy-E's "Boyz-N-The Hood (Remix)" as the Texan MC claims this was the 2020 version of her 2019 hit "Hot Girl Summer." Megan Thee Stallion and Bobby Sessions are credited as co-writers along with "Boyz-n-the Hood" writers Ice Cube, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. The song was well-received by fans peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard.
8. "Body"

Megan says she got inspired to write this song over quarantine when she was appreciating her body after getting a little "fluffy and thick," as the rapper explained in a YouTube video. The upbeat track made for a hit on TikTok as content creators mimicked Megan's moves. The song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard chart and stayed on for 23 weeks after.
7. "Thot S---"

Megan released "Thot S---" in June of 2021 and in the music video she portrays herself as her alter ego "Tina Snow." The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard chart and spent 12 weeks on the chart.
6. "Shots Fired"

From her 'Good News' album released in 2020, Megan was not playing fair with this track. "Shots Fired" is a diss track to the incident when Tory Lanez allegedly shot Megan in the foot. 5. "Cash S---" ft. DaBaby

"Cash S---" was released in 2019 and stayed 11 weeks on the Billboard chart. This was the first time DaBaby and Megan collaborated on a track. The trap-heavy beat was supplied by LilJuMadeDaBeat, who also produced "Big Ole Freak."

3. "Big Ole Freak"

The track "Big Ole Freak" sparked the #BigOleFreakChallenge which invited fans to out-twerk Megan. It later became the rapper's first big hit.
