"Words matter and words have consequences Ye," the museum wrote in an Instagram Story, per HipHopDX. "We urge you to come visit us at Holocaust Museum LA to understand just how words can incite horrific violence and genocides."
"The Holocaust started with only words that sadly begat stereotypes, racial and religious tropes and blaming others and led to the murder of six million Jews."
The museum went on to explain to Ye that their work also includes educating guests on genocides outside of Jewish persecution. They emphasized Kanye's ties to Armenia since he has four children with Kim Kardashian who is half-Armenian and half-American.
"At Holocaust Museum LA it is our mission to commemorate those who were murdered, educate on the Holocaust and all genocides including the genocide perpetrated against the Armenian People (of which your children would be included), and inspire a more dignified and humane world," the museum continued.
Kanye received a lot of backlash last week for posting anti-Semitic comments on social media, starting with his text message exchange with Diddy. Diddy tried asking Ye to meet up in person, following a disagreement about Kanye's "White Lives Matter" t-shirts. Diddy wrote, "N---- send me a address. Let's stop playing these internet games. And don't feel threatened. You'll be fine. Just love."
Ye responded with an antisemitic message: "This ain't a game. Imma use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told me that no one can threaten or influence me."
Kanye then went on Twitter where he promised to go "death con 3" on Jewish people. Both the post and tweet have since been deleted. Ye now has restricted access to both sites.
Kanye has not responded on whether he will be accepting the Holocaust Museum's invitation.
Members of the entertainment and media industry have called out Kanye West's series of anti-semitic statements over the weekend. As we earlier reported, the rapper has been locked out of both Instagram and Twitter. His tweet in full read: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE. The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
The social media platform removed the tweet shortly after West, 45, published it. It noted that the tweet violated its rules and guidelines. Currently, in the tweet’s place, a Twitter message reads: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules.” The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said that Ye's tweet was anti-semitic. The wrote, “The behavior exhibited this week by @kanyewest is deeply troubling, dangerous, and antisemitic, period,” the statement read. “There is no excuse for his propagating of white supremacist slogans and classic #antisemitism about Jewish power, especially with the platform he has.”
In another tweet, they added, “Power. Disloyalty. Greed. Deicide. Blood. Denial. Anti-Zionism. All of these are antisemitic tropes that we break down in our #AntisemitismUncovered Guide at https://antisemitism.adl.org. Many of these myths have influenced @KanyeWest’s comments recently, and it’s dangerous.”
The Donda rapper's Instagram account was restricted after he posted a series of text exchanges allegedly between him and Diddy. Users called out the rapper for using anti-Semitic language (he insinusated that Diddy was controlled by Jewish people). The post has since been deleted. Before making the anti-Semitic remark, West tweeted on Friday calling out Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, “How you gone kick me off Instagram,” in response to his account being restricted.
This isn't the first time Ye has been kicked off of social media platforms. Back in March, the Yeezy founder had his Instagram account suspended for 24 hours due to posting various posts targeting his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and The Daily Show's Trevor Noah.
Now, celebrities have taken to Twitter to share their feelings on Kanye's words:
Jamie Lee Curtis
Sarah Silverman
Michael Rapaport
