The rapper posted a photo of three pairs of cleats tied to a fence with her name along with artists Maluma and Myriam Fares. Each pair of cleats also shows a number printed on the side. On Nicki's pair it reads 11, Maluma's pair has 18 written on it, and on Fares' pair 22 is printed. The numbers can be interpreted as the date for the single to come out which would be this Friday (11/18/22).
No official word has been given if or when the single could drop but appears the song may be an anthem for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The World Cup will be taking place in Qatar from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18.
This World Cup single won't be the only new music we will be hearing from Nicki. In an interview with City Girls' JT with i-D magazine, the Queens rapper was tightlipped about her next album but the rapper declared it is soon approaching. "I'm not gonna say when it’s gonna come out, but the album will be out soon," she told the publication. Nicki's forthcoming album will be the follow-up to her 2018 Queens LP, which included "Chun-Li," "Rich Sex," "FEFE."
The album might not be out yet but the rapper has been busy in the studio. The Pink Friday creator has released "Do We Have a Problem?" and "Bussin," both of which feature Lil Baby in February. In March, she dropped the Fivio Foreign-assisted track "We Go Up" and then hopped on Coi Leray's "Blick Blick." Lastly, the rapper dropped her best song of the year "Super Freaky Girl" back in August which samples Rick James' 1981 classic "Super Freak." She later performed the single for the first time at the 2022 MTV VMAs where she was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Born Onika Tanya Maraj, the rapper has roots that spread from Trinidad and Tobago to Queens, New York which she both proudly reps in her songs. The Grammy-nominated rapper celebrated a huge accomplishment this year announcing that she's received her first solo Diamond single with "Anaconda" from her 2014 album The Pinkprint. Though the new mama has put music on the back burner in 2020 and went into "retirement," she has re-entered the rap scene and continues to prove to be a force to be reckoned with.
