With Hurricane Idalia on the way it's best to be prepared. For years this area has been hit by some big storms, mainly 2016 & 2018, so it's always good to have some items on deck just in case.
- Water - You should have at least one gallon of water per person per day for drinking and sanitation purposes.
- Non-perishable food - Make sure you have enough non-perishable food to last for several days, including canned goods, dried goods, and other items that don't require refrigeration or cooking.
- First aid kit - A first aid kit should include bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and other basic medical supplies.
- Flashlights - You'll need flashlights with extra batteries in case of power outages.
- Battery-powered radio - A battery-powered radio can help you stay informed about the storm and emergency updates.
- Portable phone charger - You'll want to be able to charge your phone in case of a power outage or if you don't have a battery-powered radio
- Cash - ATMs and credit card machines may not work during a hurricane, so it's a good idea to have cash on hand.
- Important documents - Make sure you have copies of important documents like insurance policies, identification, and passports stored in a waterproof container.
- Personal hygiene items - Don't forget items like toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes.
- Extra clothing and blankets - You may need warm clothing and blankets if you have to evacuate or if your home is damaged during the storm.
