The journey leads him on an exploration of faith and an unexpected path.”
Jay-Z’s The Book Of Clarence
This is the second time Jay and Jeymes Samuel have worked together on a film project. Samuel had his directorial debut on The Harder They Fall, which was executive-produced by Jay. He also made two contributions to the film’s soundtrack. The songs were: “Guns Go Bang” featuring Kid Cudi and “King Kong Riddim (ft BackRoad Gee),” which is a collaboration between Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine, and BlackRoad Gee.
Jay previously told Vanity Fair that he doesn’t want the audience to “immediately just focus on the religious aspect of it and not the human story,” he told the publication.
He added: “My fear is that people don’t allow that arc to take place, and are immediately judging.”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the rapper said this is just the beginning of Samuel and his creative partnership.
“We got a bunch of projects in the pipeline as well — he’s just fearless,” he said. “He’s fearless and he’s creative. We went from Old West to the New Testament.”
