G-Moniy Reviews The First 2 Episodes of “X-Men 97”
I have been waiting patiently for Disney’s continuation of the original X-Men Animated Series since I heard the news around 18 months ago. I rewatched the series plus other shows like “Wolverine & The X-Men” to prepare for the re-release of the show.
Let me get straight to it, X-Men ’97 feels JUST LIKE the show I grew up with. Obviously it’s received an animation upgrade which makes it look a lot smoother but the heart of the show remains intact. It sounds like the 90% of the original cast is back for the voice acting and that’s great.
The episodes in question regained the same feel with mutants dealing with the hate and bigotry from most of the human race with plenty of Anti-Mutant factions like FOH, Friends of Humanity to keep the pace tense.
I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters, the reminder that they’re in the 90s “Here’s My Pager Number”, and the fight scenes are excellent. The Cliffhanger at the end of episode 2 was…expected but not that soon.
All in all I’m thoroughly enjoying the series and I’m giving it a 9/10 ONLY because I expect it to get better and don’t wanna be stuck at 10.
