Cash App Settlement: $15 Million Payout for Unauthorized Access Claims
Cash App may owe you $2500 dollars in a class action lawsuit, where representatives act on behalf of a group with similar claims to streamline proceedings in one court, unless individuals choose to opt out. Basically, plaintiffs Michelle Salinas, Raymel Washington, and Amanda Gordon initiated two complaints against Block and Cash App Investing, which later consolidated into a single substantial complaint, alleging negligence and breach of duties related to unauthorized access and mishandling of complaints. Both defendants deny any wrongdoing.
The consolidated complaint, is available on the Important Documents section of the settlement site, and outlines all the allegations. If you have used Cash App for transactions in the past six years, you may be eligible for a share of the $15 million settlement. Users who sent or received money through Cash App could potentially receive a $2,500 cash payment for alleged negligence in preventing unauthorized access.
So, to basically conclude proceedings efficiently and transparently, Block and Cash App Investing are providing funds for the Settlement Class, administrative expenses, legal fees, costs for Class Counsel, and a Service Payment to the Class Representatives. Participation in the settlement does not imply any admission of guilt.
Claims must be submitted if you meet the criteria between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024, with a deadline for online or mail submissions to the Cash App Settlement center in Philadelphia by November 18, 2024. The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for December 16, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. PT via teleconference to assess the fairness of the settlement, address any objections, and approve fees and costs.
