Robeson County’s unemployment rate improves by dropping to 4.7% in December 2025.

Robeson County's jobless rate dropped to 4.7% in December 2025. That's down from 5.2% in November. The N.C. Department of Commerce shared this data on Wednesday, showing a half-point decline that mirrored changes happening across neighboring areas.
December's figure came in 0.1% higher than the year before, when 4.6% unemployment was recorded. Still, this county ranked fifth-worst statewide for unemployment.
According to The Robesonian, each county bordering Robeson saw gains. Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Hoke, and Scotland counties all posted declines of nearly a full percentage point.
The Fayetteville metro area saw its rate decline from 5.1% to 4.3%. This regional shift occurred while the statewide rate remained at 3.9%.
Across North Carolina, 99 counties saw unemployment decline. One saw it rise. Edgecombe County had the highest rate at 5.4%, while Stanly County had the lowest at 2.6%.
Statewide, 36,570 more workers held jobs in December, bringing the total to 5,108,591. These figures aren't adjusted for seasonal patterns. At the same time, those without work fell by 39,163 to 181,301.
