The Doll House with Babydoll

Weekdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Crunchy Black of Three 6 Mafia is one of the best at Memphis Jookin. Babydoll put together some of her favorite videos.

I remember seeing Crunchy Black doing Memphis Jookin – what we then called the Crunchy Black – during the height of Three 6 Mafia’s legendary career. We later found out it was a staple in the Memphis Underground Rap scene called Gangsta Walking. Years later it has evolved into its own epic dance style: Memphis Jookin.

The name isn’t as important as the fact that the style itself deserves a round of applause. To see the creative artistry that oozes from modern performers is as amazing as breakdancing in the 80s. What’s insane is that the style has also been around since the 80s & is just now set to take over Hip Hop.

It’s the footwork for me, check out some of my favs:

  • Ladia Yates

  • Lil Buck
