Back in 2009 you had to literally not be born to not have at least heard a whisper or read a headline about Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna.
Honestly I didn’t know the full extent until I started digging for this story. I was surprised by what I found & after reading comments yesterday about a Chris Brown on my Facebook feed I have to ask the question.
How long do we continue vilify another human, after the actual human hurt by them has forgiven them?
People in the comment section were calling him a “woman beater” and I’m not saying he’s not nor is he. I am saying that sometimes, even the most heinous acts are human mistakes. Acts that haunt the same individuals who committed them.
“From there, it just went downhill because there were too many verbal fights, physical fights as well. Mutual sides,” Brown said in a documentary interview. “We would fight each other. She would hit me, I would hit her and it never was OK.”
Sometimes we need to give other humans the same thing God gives us consistently: grace.
My friends sometimes say I’m way too forgiving and you may too, still watch Chris Brown and Rihanna talk about that night and decide for yourself:
