New York rapper Fred the Godson, born Fredrick Thomas, has passed from coronavirus, as Billboard reports. The Bronx native was 35-years-old. DJ Self confirmed the news, writing that Fred  "was loved ... never heard one bad thing about you RIP @fredthegodsonmusic Sleep Well my brother."

The rapper's close friend and collaborator Jaquae also paid homage to the MC who is popular for tracks like "Toast To That" with Jadakiss and "Doves Fly" featuring Pusha T.  "Sleep in peace my brother.... You'll never be forgotten. LOVE U MAN. I have so much things to say but I'm lost right now," Jaquae wrote.

On Wednesday (Apr. 22), Fred's publicist told The Source that the rapper remained in intensive care after his fever peaked at 105 degrees earlier and this his heart and vital signs were showing improvement, though his kidney function was intensely impacted due to COVID-19 complications. A spokesperson for the MC couldn't be reached for a comment at press time.

Fred the Godson was reportedly at higher risk due to the rapper having asthma. He was hospitalized earlier this month, relying on a ventilator to breathe.  On April 6, Fred shared his diagnosis posting a photo of himself in the hospital wearing an oxygen mask to assist him with breathing. The New York native asked his fans for support and prayers.
