Tory Lanez is now under investigation by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for allegedly assaulting singer August Alsina backstage at a Chicago concert over the weekend, Billboard reports.

"We are aware of the allegations that the defendant attacked artist August Alsina and are investigating these claims," said the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in a statement to Billboard. "The allegations are serious and will be thoroughly examined."

Alsina posted a series of photos on Instagram showing the result of the alleged altercation that transpired between him and the "Say It" rapper. Alsina posted photos of himself with blood coming out of his mouth while he stood in an elevator. The "I Luv This S---" singer said the altercation happened after he refused to dap up Lanez after he greeted his eight security officers. In the lengthy Instagram post, the singer also accused Lanez of putting his business out publicly in the past which also led to why he did not want to shake hands with him. Additionally, Alsina claims his doctors suggested due to his health conditions that he shouldn't shake hands to avoid getting COVID-19 and/or monkeypox.

Lanez refuted those claims by posting on his Instagram Story, per gossip site TMZ.  "I don't know what everybody is talking about...But I've been in the studio. I'm not in anything negative...I've been working on myself...And being a better person," he wrote.

The Chicago Police Department told Billboard that "they received a report of a '30-year-old male' being 'punched in the face by a 30-year-old male after exiting a building in the 2300 block of S. Lake Shore Drive' on Saturday at approximately 11:30 p.m." The CPD did not confirm the identities of the two men due to their policy. In documents that the publication has attained, the location of the altercation on the report is "seemingly the Arie Crown Theater." Both Lanez and Alsina were billed to perform at comedian Rip Michaels’ Fall Back in Love Comedy & Music Jam on Saturday. Detectives are currently investigating the matter.

Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, made his mark on the industry in 2016 with his debut album I Told You. From there, the singer/rapper began to brand himself as a master of samples by creating his own mixtape series called "chixtapes." With his Chixtape series, which currently has five installments, the singer puts his own spin on classic R&B songs from artists such as Aaliyah, Usher, Ashanti, and more. In addition to his Chixtape series, he continued to push out six studio albums as he teamed up with the likes of Chris Brown, G-Eazy, Meek Mill, and more. Since the recent legal battle between Megan Thee Stallion and Canadian rapper, Lanez has kept a low profile since the 2020 shooting and has used his music to share his side of the story.

Take a look at 10 of Tory Lanez's best songs ranked below:
