A building in West London that was home to a now abandoned Toys "R" Us store read "RAVES R US" in spraypaint and held an "unlicensed music event" recently, according to NME, one that lead to some arrests.
Hundreds of individuals piled into the rave Easter Weekend, and five people were arrested, as well as the equipment being seized.
Apparently, there were tickets for the event, and the police urged others to stay away from the area and that ticket holders were being turned away. This has become a problem locally, according to The Telegraph. The number of unlicensed events have doubled between 2016 to 2017, and it has been linked to the decline of suitable venues in the past decade.
You have to wonder if former employees were involved or if the building was broken into. Considering they had a sound system, it was likely the power was still on, and if it was a rave, there was potential for uplighting and powering of the equipment needed to produce music, such as turntables/CDJs, etc.
Sadly after doing some digging, I'm not seeing any photos of the ACTUAL rave on Twitter, so if there are no photos of the rave, does that mean it didn't happen?
Aside from it being illegal though, you have to think, if there was any place cooler to have a rave, it would probably be an abandoned Toys "R" Us. Just watch out for the people dressed up as stuffed animals, okay?
