Carletta's Reaction In an NC Lottery news release, Carletta explained her shock when she realized she had won. "When the numbers kept going up, I was like, 'No way'," she said. "You can imagine how shocked I was." She claimed her prize the following Tuesday at the lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Carletta brought home over $245,000 in lottery winnings. It didn't take her long to figure out what to do with her cash prize either.
