50 Cent and La La Anthony To Produce New Drama Series For Starz
50 Cent has teamed up with his former Power castmate, La La Anthony, to produce a new drama series for Starz.
The new upcoming series is titled Intercepted, according to Deadline. It’s based on the bestselling novel by Alexa Martin, which has the same name.
Intercepted is the first of the three-book series The Playbook, which was inspired by Martin’s time as an NFL wife for eight years.
The series centers around Marlee Harper (Anthony), who has dated an NFL star for the last 10 years, but when the relationship folds Harper vows to never date an athlete again. There’s only one problem. A new quarterback that’s in town has his eyes on Harper.
Anthony can actually pull from her real-life experience for the role of Marlee Harper being that she’s married to NBA star Carmelo Anthony.
Intercepted is part of a four-year development deal that 50 Cent and G-Unit inked with Starz last year. The rapper, actor, and producer is also developing two other series for Starz, titled Black Mafia Family and Vanguard.
“When I sat down with [Starz CEO Chris Albrecht] and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history,”50 Cent said of the development deal. “We will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world. Get the strap.”
50 Cent executive produces Starz’s Power, which he also starred in for the first five seasons, and he executive produces a legal drama pilot at ABC. La La Anthony is a co-star on Power and she recently has starred in Fox’s Star and The New Edition Story.
Intercepted currently doesn’t have a production or release date.
