Quavo Pushes Back Release Date For ‘Rocket Power’
Quavo is delaying his upcoming tribute album to Takeoff. Rocket Power was set to drop Friday (August 4) but the Head Honcho is delaying the album to August 18.
The rapper made the announcement on Monday (July 31) on Twitter. “We gotta run some more tests before the rocket is ready to launch. 8/18 #RocketPower,” Quavo wrote.

Quavo dropped “Turn Yo Clic Up” featuring Future last month. That will have to hold fans over in the meantime.
The rapper opened up about the loss of his nephew and group mate Takeoff (born Kirsnick Khari Ball), who was shot and killed on Nov. 1 in Houston. In an interview with Jamie Crawford-Walker on YouTube, Quavo talked about his grief and how he has been coping. The rapper admitted that he sometimes “cries himself to sleep” thinking about his late nephew. While he’s been photographed enjoying his summer, he said that it’s not to be confused with how he feels about Takeoff.

“So when you see me, and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think, like, I forgot about him, or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time,” he said.
In the same interview, he spoke about the upcoming album and how he has used a “few unreleased verses” from Takeoff. Those songs are yet to be released and will most likely appear in Rocket Power. Quavo said that Takeoff has around 1,000 unreleased verses in the vault.
Quavo has been open about honoring Takeoff on social media. Earlier this month, he shared a photo of Takeoff writing, “Think About You All The Time I’ll Never Forget About You!!!.” He added, “I Miss U So Much And NoOne Will Take Yo Spot Twin U My Left Hand [left hand emoji] Come On Now!!! OTHERSIDE BOYS.”
Be on the lookout for Rocket Power arriving August 18.
