Harlem rapper Dave East is set to play Method Man in Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga, a 10-episode drama from Wu-Tang Clan’s The RZA and screenwriter Alex Tse.
East will play the role alongside Julian Elijah Martinez and Sopranos alum Vinnie Pastore in the series that is based on the iconic hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, according to Deadline Hollywood.
The series takes place in New York City during the ’90s at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic and chronicles the popular group’s inception.
Ashton Sanders (Moonlight) will portray Bobby Diggs aka The RZA and Martinez will portray Divine, Digg’s older brother, while Pastore will recur as Larry, a local rib joint owner.
The series will be executive produced by Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, Craig Zisk, Tse, and Wu-Tang Clan members The RZA and Method Man.
Fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, GZA, and the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard will serve as consulting producers.
East has previously appeared in BET’s Being Mary Jane and The Breaks. His latest music project was his 2018 mixtape, Paranoia 2.
